This Accounting qualification is your passport to a career in finance and accountancy. As one of the UK′s leading AAT providers, AFC Vietnam gives you a unique combination of practical know-how and essential theories. Whether you′re leaving school, re-training or returning to work, we offer a highly-regarded, non-graduate entry route into the accountancy profession.

The AAT is committed to improving standards of competence and professional development in accounting and related areas, and is dedicated to offering extensive support to all members and their employers. Gaining a qualification from this prestigious organisation will give you a competitive edge in the job market, opening the door to a wide range of well paid and highly respected accounting roles.

Course content

The AAT Accounting Qualification is split into three levels, each consisting of several units. Every level is a qualification in its own right and completion of the final level leads to the full AAT Accounting Qualification.

There are three levels to the AAT Accounting Qualification, and each level is broken into different learning and assessment areas – browse the levels below to find out more about each one:

  • The Level 2 Certificate in Accounting: At this level your staff will start to develop your skills in double entry bookkeeping and gain a grasp of management and administrative processes. They’ll learn basic costing principles, how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and how to work with purchase, sales, and general ledgers and costing.
  • The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting: This level introduces more complex accounting tasks, like preparing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. Students also learn how to maintain cost accounting records and preparation of reports and returns. Financial spreadsheets and professional ethics are also covered.
  • Level 4 Diploma in Accounting: This level is approximately equivalent to the first year of an honours degree, and teaches skills most relevant to finance team leader roles. You will learn how to draft financial statements for limited companies, perform complex management accounting tasks and develop their own management skills. This level includes a choice of special units, which means that students can focus on the areas of accounting that suit them.

Reason for study

There are many organizations offering accounting qualifications. However, the AAT is the only professional membership body to offer an NVQ/SVQ in Accounting (also known as the AAT′s Accounting Qualification).

Improve your prospects with a qualification that opens doors

As an AAT-qualified accounting technician you will have an internationally recognized and respected qualification that shows potential employers that you have been trained to a high standard. What′s more, since the AAT′s qualification is based on actually doing the work, they′ll know that as well as the underpinning knowledge, you have the skills and practical experience not just to perform in an accounting role, but to excel in it.

Entry requirements

The AAT is open to everyone, whether you are a school-leaver or a working adult looking for a career change, regardless of your experience or previous qualifications. Whether you′re thinking about becoming an accountant, or you already work in accountancy and want to advance your career, an AAT qualification will enhance your skills and boost your prospects.

If you have no previous experience or knowledge of accounting or bookkeeping, we strongly recommend you start your AAT course at Level Two. Applicants with accountancy experience can progress straight to Level Three. In some cases, the AAT recommends that students with extensive workplace experience or prior knowledge of Level Three can begin their studies at Level Four.
